You’re probably here to figure out how epilators work.
First, you need to ask yourself a few questions…
How often do you have to shave your legs? Do you normally get a bikini waxing done especially when the summer months are upon us? Shaving can definitely be one of the biggest nuisances of a person’s week. If you have darker or thicker hair, it grows back way too fast.
Frequent shaving is going to be more of a problem if you happen to have sensitive skin. Those of us with sensitive skin either try and go as long as we can without shaving, or try all the creams we can to ensure that we do not break out in a rash.
Are there alternatives to shaving? Is there a way to prevent the hair from growing back so quickly? Many women, especially during the summer months, decide to go to the waxing salon to rid of the hair. This allows them to not have to worry about constantly shaving and they can just get it done once and then move on.
However, this can get pricey when you have to have it done several times during the season and worst of all, it is incredibly painful. Many people decide after one time that they cannot go back, and it definitely will not be for you if you have a low pain tolerance.
A great alternative is purchasing an epilator. These are fantastic devices that apply the same logistics as waxing, but you can easily do on your own in the comfort of your own home.
Before we answer your question, “How do epilators work?”, do you know what an epilator even is?
What is an epilator?
Before we explain how an epilator works, what is an epilator? Well it is an electrical device that allows you to remove your hair at the follicular level. They are equipped with many electronic tweezers that can be used to remove hair from anywhere you do not want it, such as on your legs, arms, or under the arms. They are also primarily used on the bikini areas. Just like waxing and using tweezers yourself, they pluck the hair from the roots.
Shavers can only trim down till very smooth and this is why the hair tends to grow back fast. Epilators simply pull the hairs out straight from the root, and you won’t have to worry about them growing back for over four weeks.
These are devices that ensure you can quickly remove your hair for a longer period of time than shaving. Many epilators are affordable and they are available in a variety of sizes, weights, colors, and features. They are becoming more and more common among women.
How does an epilator work?
So how do they actually get rid of your hair? Well first of all, epilators can be a bit painful as they are, in fact, pulling the hair out by the root. But if you prep the skin a few days before, you will be amazed at how much of a difference it makes. If you skin is dry or cracked, it is going to hurt more. We recommend using some lotion on the skin a few days in advance, to moisturize the area that you will be using the epilator on.
Once you set your epilator in place, the point is to go slow. Is imagine that an epilator is filled with a bunch of tweezers doing a pulling motion. They look and feel like a razor in your hand, but it is a much different sensation, much like the way you would manually pluck your eyebrows.
We encourage you to just do just a little bit at a time, and not race through the whole thing as you do not want to pull it too much. By concentrating on just certain areas, and ensuring that the skin has been moisturized, it is going to go a lot smoother and be less painful.
If you don’t know much about epilators then the first step is to know how an epilator works. At the end of the day, epilators are not for everyone. Some people simply find them too painful, and they would much rather use a shaver, and that is okay.
However, if you are looking for an easy way to get rid of the hair for a longer period of time, you should look into purchasing an epilator. Find one that is a great size for you, affordable, and then get to work.
